MONTREAL, October 9, 2015 – Sofame has delivered its Percotherm® direct-contact stack economizer to Montreal’s new $2 billion, 772 bed, CHUM super hospital.  The Percotherm® ensures maximum heating efficiency to achieve the lowest possible energy costs.  Engineering on the Sofame heat recovery system was completed in the spring.  The second half of the project comprises the heat exchangers and pumps skids which are scheduled to be delivered in November.

When it opens in 2016, CHUM will have the largest power plant among Montreal’s finest hospitals.  Sofame’s Montreal-based distributors, Enviroair, recommended the same direct-contact stack economizer used by numerous other hospitals in North America to achieve 98% heating efficiency.  HH Angus consulting engineers are targeting LEED Silver certification for CHUM’s new hospital complex.

According to John Gocek, President of Sofame, “The order for CHUM Phase 2 is valued at about $1 million and is among the four most important Sofame has received, including Montoir de Bretagne, University of Toronto and Princeton University.”
